Odgers collaborated with PwC in Denmark to identify an exceptional and highly specialised Head of Technology Transformation with Mikael Skov Mikkelsen commencing the role in June 2023.

What Attracted You To The Role? 

Having worked at the Danish Ministry of Finance, served as a CIO in the healthcare sector, and held roles at Nordea Bank in the insurance industry and Deloitte, building trust and integrity in society whilst solving important problems has always meant a great deal to me.

I’m drawn to complex organisational journeys. I enjoy tackling diverse challenges and helping organisations navigate them. That’s why management consulting suits me so well. PwC had a strong reputation in the market, and they were looking to further develop a transformative profile - something that aligns closely with my own experience and ambitions.

What Are Your Ambitions For Your Role?  

I’ve moved between industry and consulting throughout my career, and that blend is something I truly value when working with clients. I’ve been in their shoes, and now I’m in a position where I can draw on that experience to offer leadership advice that’s practical and empathetic.

What I enjoy most is being able to do this across many organisations. I get to see a wide range of best practices, learn from them, and then bring those insights to other companies in a way that inspires and supports their own journeys. That’s meaningful to me, and it’s a part of the work I genuinely enjoy. 

How Was Your Journey With Odgers?  

I’ve worked with Odgers both as a candidate myself and now through PwC, where we partner with them on executive search for senior roles at the partner and director level. That means I have regular conversations with the Odgers teams throughout the year.

When we talk about delivering leadership in uncertain times, the key question becomes: what kind of leaders should we be looking for, and what traits truly matter?  

It’s no longer enough to simply excel as a subject matter expert. In consulting, you also need to be able to bridge strategic, tactical, and operational thinking, bringing all three together to guide organisations effectively.
